Endorsement from Senator Jamie Eldridge

Our campaign is proud to announce a critical endorsement from State Senator Jamie Eldridge. Dan has worked with Senator Eldridge for six years as District Director for the Middlesex and Worcester district, and their friendship goes back even further.

“I first met Danillo when he was a student at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. To this day, I remember him saying to me, sitting in the high school counselor’s office, ‘I want to be American.’ Since then, I have witnessed Dan work two, three jobs at a time to pay his way through first Middlesex Community College, and then UMass-Amherst, while enduring the many challenges of being a first-generation immigrant. I was proud to have Dan join my State House office as a Dreamer in 2013, and have watched him become a U.S. citizen, a husband to his wife Melinda Yim, a Cambodian refugee who is a pharmacist, and raise their two beautiful children, Juliana and Leonardo, in Acton. They are about as close to the American Dream as I know, and I believe Dan’s struggles as an immigrant will make him a fighter at the State House, representing the interests of the people of the 37th Middlesex District over corporate special interests, and being an independent leader.”

In these difficult times there simply is no substitute for fierce advocates for progressive values at all levels of government. Senator Eldridge has seen firsthand the kind of hard work Sena is willing to to to serve constituents.

“Dan has worked tremendously hard to serve constituents, including helping families get on MassHealth, apply for affordable housing, secure childcare vouchers, and access human services. He has been my liaison on public transportation, including advocating for the new South Acton train station, expanding the CrossTown Connect shuttle service, and building more rail trails. On immigration, Dan has been responsible for writing letters for people seeking to become U.S. citizens, stood with me in federal immigration courts to oppose the deportation of hard-working  residents, and connected me to the struggles of the region’s many immigrant communities, most especially the Brazilian and Latino communities. If you know Dan, he has a strong sense of outrage for injustices committed by the powerful against the people. I strongly believe he will have this same fighting spirit for the people of the 37th Middlesex District.”
